Laguna LD2 Brat Reviews 5

The name cracked me up. If you have ever been to Laguna California before you can even blink you will be greeted with a handful of brats! I digress, it is a beautiful town as is the Brat acoustic by Laguna. Laguna is a newer company I only remember seeing them pop up in the last 2-3 years. I believe they are a Guitar Center exclusive brand.

I spotted it at Guitar Center on one of my visits. I picked it up not expecting much, but it sounded and felt great and well what else are you looking for in an instrument? The price was $200. I wasn't in the market for a beginner acoustic but if you are, I definitely suggest this one.

It is a 7/8 scale acoustic which means it is slightly smaller than a full sized dreadnaught. Naturally it falls between a 3/4 scale and a full scale. It was in tune and setup when I picked it up off the rack (not always the case in the bigger guitar stores) A few open chords, I bonded with full open tone. A few lead guitar licks the sound was still balanced.

I'm certain this isn't made out of real wood. Although laminates aren't the best, it sounded good.

Sharp fretboard inlay. Looked like abalone. There is also some 'bling' on the fretboard. The acoustic doesn't have a pickgaurd which I thought only enhanced its looks. The hardware being the tuners, nut and saddle looked like your standard budget hardware, but hey if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

A great couch strummer! The smaller scale makes it easier and more comfortable to play.
